  Design Help & Advice

  1. Start all jobs with a custom page as per finished size (89 x 53mm) plus 2mm bleed (or a box if you prefer). Place guides 3mm in from all 4 sides of finished size. Do not place any text, non-bleeding panels, or logos outside these guides. (see graphic)
  2. No thin borders around the edges of the card. i.e.. There is a 0.5mm variation in the trimming of the card, so this can be problematic. If you need to put a border on your card, we suggest a minimum of 2.5mm plus 2mm bleed = 4.5mm.
  3. Do not use Registration Black (100C 100M 100Y 100K) in your artwork. No printing press can carry 400% ink. Maximum coverage of ink should be 280% (If you add all CMYK together it should not exceed 280)
  4. If you are not mixing your CMYK colours from a Colour Swatch Book, don't believe what your Monitor / Screen of inkjet printer is showing you. If colour is critical, ask for a proof. (Metallic, Fluorescent and Luminous colours and bright orange don't exist in CMYK process printing.)
  5. To add some intensity and strength to black areas add 20% Cyan to you black - 20C 100K (not text).
  6. Do not create a PDF with fonts. If fonts are not converted to paths, outlines or curves, font substitution will occur. Many font manufacturers have trade mark security and do not allow their fonts to be transported in PDF format.
